# Comet Backup With Wasabi

[Comet Backup](https://cometbackup.com/) has been validated for use with Wasabi. The tips and screen shots below provide details on configuration.

***Note:****The data restoration process is handled by your specific backup software application. As there are many potential variables that will affect your unique environment, it is strongly recommended that you seek the guidance of your backup software's technical support team in the event that you encounter difficulty or have application-specific inquiries.*

## Requirements

- Active [Wasabi Cloud Storage Account](https://wasabi.com/sign-up)
- Active & Licensed [Comet Account](https://cometbackup.com/signup)
- Comet Server and Client Backup Software. This solution was most recently tested with version 26.1.3 Iapetus.
- Create your bucket for your Comet Backups in the [Wasabi Console](https://console.wasabisys.com/#/login). See [Creating a Bucket](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/creating-a-bucket) for details.

***Note:****You will want to create your bucket beforehand so that you can select the appropriate*[*Wasabi Storage Region*](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/what-are-the-service-urls-for-wasabis-different-storage-regions)*for you data as you cannot select this through the Comet Storage Vault Creation process.*

## Configure Wasabi as a Storage Template

1. Log into your Comet server as an admin using the set IP address chosen during installation.

## Backup Retention

By default Comet is set to keep all backups forever. There are several ways to configure Comet to limit the number of backups it retains in your Wasabi storage. See [How to set up retention](https://docs.cometbackup.com/latest/guides/how-to-set-up-retention/) for details.

## Configure Immutability

You can use Wasabi's Object Lock with Comet Voyager 23.3.1 or higher software. This helps prevent against accidental or malicious deletion of your backups by not allowing them to be deleted for a configurable period of time.

1. Log into your [Wasabi Cloud Console](https://console.wasabisys.com) and create your Object Lock Enabled Bucket following the steps in [Object Lock Enabled Bucket](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/object-locking) article. ***Note:****You will want to create your Object Lock Enabled bucket beforehand so that you can select the appropriate*[*Wasabi Storage Region*](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/what-are-the-service-urls-for-wasabis-different-storage-regions)*for you data as you cannot select this through the Comet Storage Vault Creation process.*
2. Create a Lifecycle Policy for your bucket. This is used to delete non-current objects and delete-markers in your bucket, not to delete backup data itself. Click on **Buckets**, then click on the name of your bucket.

![](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/Screenshot_2026-04-01_at_10_21_04 AM(1).png)

1. Click on the Settings gearwheel button.

1. Give the rule a name and configure the policy as shown in the screenshot below. Set the Days after object becomes noncurrent to 1. Scroll down.
