FTP and FTPS Deprecation

Wasabi is raising its security standards and deprecating support for FTP and FTPS.

Wasabi deprecated support for FTP and FTPS on July 17, 2025.

As part of Wasabi’s commitment to provide the highest security standards, we are announcing the deprecation of FTP and FTPS for data activities in all regions.

These changes will take effect on July 17, 2025. After this date, access to our storage will no longer be possible with FTP or FTPS.

FTP and FTPS are legacy protocols that do not support key capabilities such as advanced authentication and S3-native scalability. To ensure Wasabi continues to provide secure, performant, and reliable storage services, we are focusing support on more secure and efficient access methods.

FTP lacks encryption, making data transfers vulnerable to interception. Many FTP implementations are inherently insecure, require overly expansive firewall rules that leave customers exposed, and have not offered the reliability that customers expect due to several factors.

Once support for FTP and FTPS is deprecated, any requests made from your client or application that are still utilizing these deprecated protocols will fail, as the connection will be refused. This will prevent file transfers using these methods.

If you currently rely on FTP/FTPS, we recommend that you begin your transition as soon as possible to avoid disruptions. We encourage you to transition to a storage access method that natively supports S3. Transitioning away from these legacy protocols aligns with modern security practices.

Wasabi appreciates your attention to this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, contact support@wasabi.com.
