To use this product with Wasabi, follow the config tips below. ***Note****: This configuration example discusses the use of Wasabi’s us-east-1 storage region. To use other Wasabi storage regions, use the appropriate Wasabi service URL as described in our* [*Wasabi Service URLs article*](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/what-are-the-service-urls-for-wasabis-different-storage-regions)***.*** ### Requirements - There is already a [bucket created](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/working-with-buckets-and-objects#creating-a-bucket) on Wasabi that you would like mounted on your system. - There is [a User](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/creating-a-user-account-and-access-key#creating-a-user) created for GeeseFS for which you have access keys. - aws cli is installed on your local machine. aws configure has been configured with the profile and access keys that GeeseFS will use. OR You have set up the GeeseFS access keys using one of the methods outlined in [Usage](https://github.com/yandex-cloud/geesefs/blob/master/README.md#usage). - You have a local directory on your machine that your bucket will mount. ## Installing GeeseFS The following steps were performed on an RHEL/CentOS-based system, and can be found at [GeeseFS.](https://cloud.yandex.com/en/docs/storage/tools/geesefs#installation) Install fuse, ```plaintext sudo yum install fuse fuse3 ``` ![yum_install_fuse_fuse3.png](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/14552379275291.png) Download GeeseFS: ```plaintext wget https://github.com/yandex-cloud/geesefs/releases/latest/download/geesefs-linux-amd64 -O /usr/bin/geesefs ``` ![download_geesefs.png](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/14552438656539.png) Update permissions for the GeeseFS program: ```plaintext chmod a+x /usr/bin/geesefs ``` ![update_permissions.png](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/14552465687707.png) Configuring GeeseFS The following is an outline of the GeeseFS command structure, geesefs [OPTIONS] [BUCKET] [LOCAL PATH] For more information on available options, you can view the GeeseFS documentation [here](https://github.com/yandex-cloud/geesefs#overview) or use GeeseFS help at your terminal. ```plaintext geesefs --help ``` This is an example command that will mount the geesefs-bucket you have created in the us-east-1 region with Wasabi, using the geesefs profile, to the /mnt/geesefs path on your local machine: ```plaintext geesefs --file-mode=0666 --dir-mode=0777 --list-type=1 --region us-east-1 --endpoint https://s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com --profile geesefs geesefs-bucket /mnt/geesefs ``` ### ![run_geesefs.png](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/14552469092763.png) ## Configuring automount using /etc/fstab The following is an outline of the fstab entry structure, [BUCKET] [MOUNT POINT] [FILE SYSTEM TYPE] [FILESYSTEM OPTIONS] [dump PARAM] [fsck PARAM] For more information, you can view some fstab documentation [fstab(5) — Linux manual page](https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man5/fstab.5.html). This is an example fstab entry that will mount the geesefs-bucket you have created in the us-east-1 region with Wasabi, using the geesefs profile, to the /mnt/geesefs path on your local machine upon boot, or when using mount -a. ```plaintext geesefs-bucket /mnt/geesefs fuse.geesefs _netdev,allow_other,--file-mode=0666,--dir-mode=0777,--list-type=1,--region=us-east-1,--endpoint=s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com,--profile=geesefs 0 0 ``` ![fstab.png](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/14552480847771.png) Alternative Heredoc for appending the GeeseFS entry into fstab ```plaintext cat <> /etc/fstab # GeeseFS Wasabi Mount geesefs-bucket /mnt/geesefs fuse.geesefs _netdev,allow_other,--file-mode=0666,--dir-mode=0777,--list-type=1,--region=us-east-1,--endpoint=s3.us-east-1.wasabisys.com,--profile=geesefs 0 0 EOF ``` ## Validation At this point, the geese-bucket should successfully be mounted to /mnt/geesefs. To validate this, you can use standard *nix commands to manage files in/mnt/geesefs and confirm they are added to or removed from the bucket by viewing the bucket in the Wasabi Console or using commands like aws s3 ls. ### ![validation.png](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/14552533367195.png)
