# Reclaiming Space in WCN

This feature replaces a replicated file on the source (or all replicated files in a selected folder) with a nearline file(s) on the bucket. When space is reclaimed, the replicated file on the source becomes a stub file and points to the actual replica on the bucket.

> A manual operation takes precedence over any automatically scheduled tasks or policies.

1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to a source that is paired with a bucket.
2. Right-click a folder or file to reclaim space.

3. Hover over **Wasabi Cloud NAS**.
4. Select **Reclaim Space**.

5. If notification settings are enabled for the WCN Explorer, a tray notification will provide the job status. Once space is successfully reclaimed, both the file and the source folder containing the reclaimed file(s) are indicated by ![](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/reclaim space icon.jpg).
