# Retrieving Data in WCN

This feature retrieves a nearline file(s) from a folder in the bucket to restore a replicated file version on the source. Optionally, you can retrieve the contents of a whole folder and restore the contents to the last committed version of all files in the folder by a specific time.

> To retrieve a nearline file, perform the manual operation on the stub file in the control folder. With a NAS source, stub files are located in the control folder and not on the network share. For more detail about data archiving on NAS sources, review [Source Storage Requirements](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/prerequisites-for-wasabi-cloud-nas-wcn#source-storage-requirements).

> A manual operation takes precedence over any automatically scheduled tasks or policies.

1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the control folder.
2. Locate the stub counterpart for the nearline file, indicated by ![](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/reclaim space icon.jpg). Right-click the file.

5. If notification settings are enabled for the WCN Explorer, a tray notification will provide the job status. When the retrieval is complete, the original data is restored and the file is indicated by ![](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/replicate icon.jpg).
