# Update Password: Changing a Password

## Updating the Account Password

> A sub-user password must be reset by the Root account administrator. Contact your administrator to reset your password if you are a sub-user.
> 
> OR:
> 
> A sub-user can change the password if the Root account administrator has provided permissions via a policy as described in [Defining a Policy for Sub-Users to Change Passwords and Enable MFA](https://docs.wasabi.com/docs/how-do-i-allow-sub-users-to-change-passwords-and-enable-mfa).

1. Click **Settings** on the Wasabi menu. Or, open the account sign-in ![](https://cdn.document360.io/bef0a1ea-7768-4d5a-b520-c4fe2f7fafad/Images/Documentation/image-1697644604764.png) drop-down and click **Settings**.
2. Select **Update Password**.

3. Enter the old password.
4. Enter the new password.
5. Enter the new password again as confirmation.
6. Click **Update**.
