Enhancing Your Security: An Important Update on TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 Deprecation

Prev Next

At Wasabi, your data security is our top priority. That's why we're making an important upgrade to our security infrastructure to ensure your information remains as safe as possible. We will soon deprecate support for older TLS (Transport Layer Security) versions 1.0 and 1.1 across all our services.

What is TLS and Why is This Important for You?

TLS is the encryption protocol that secures communications over a computer network. Think of it as a digital handshake that ensures a private and secure connection between your device and our servers. Older versions like TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1, while once considered secure, have known vulnerabilities that could potentially expose your data to risks. They also lack the performance capabilities of newer protocols.

This upgrade is a proactive step to strengthen the security of your connection and safeguard your data. By moving to more modern and robust versions like TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3, we're making it significantly harder for unauthorized parties to intercept or tamper with your information. This alignment with industry best practices and security standards, including those recommended by NIST, provides you with a more secure and robust connection to our services, along with improved performance.

When Will This Change Happen?

These crucial security enhancements will be implemented on October 30, 2025. After this date, accessing our services will require the use of TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3.

What Do You Need to Do?

In most cases, your current systems and applications are likely already configured to use these newer, more secure TLS versions. Modern web browsers and operating systems automatically support TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3.

However, if you're still using older client applications or operating systems that only support TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1, you'll need to update them to ensure uninterrupted access to our services after  October 30, 2025.

To help you prepare and understand any potential impact, we've created a resource on how to update your settings. Please visit the TLS Frequently Asked Questions article for detailed guidance.

We're committed to providing you with a secure, reliable, and high-performing experience. This upgrade is a testament to that commitment, ensuring your valuable data is protected with the latest security measures.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to enhance our services.
