Comet Backup has been validated for use with Wasabi. The tips and screen shots below provide details on configuration.
Note: The data restoration process is handled by your specific backup software application. As there are many potential variables that will affect your unique environment, it is strongly recommended that you seek the guidance of your backup software's technical support team in the event that you encounter difficulty or have application-specific inquiries.
Requirements
Active Wasabi Cloud Storage Account
Active & Licensed Comet Account
Comet Server and Client Backup Software. This solution was most recently tested with version 26.1.3 "Iapetus".
Create your bucket for your Comet Backups in the Wasabi Console. See Creating a Bucket for details.
Note: You will want to create your bucket beforehand so that you can select the appropriate Wasabi Storage Region for you data as you cannot select this through the Comet Storage Vault Creation process.
Configure Wasabi as a Storage Template
Log into your Comet server as an admin using the set IP address chosen during installation.

Navigate to Settings and then Storage Templates and Click +Add.

To create your Storage Template complete the following steps:
Give the template a description.
Type - Select Wasabi.
Bucket Name - Name of the Bucket you previously created in the Wasabi Console.
Access Key - Wasabi Access Key.
Secret Key - Wasabi Secret Key.
Click Test Connection.

Note: Creating your bucket through the Storage Template creation process will default to the Wasabi East Service Location. If you desire a different Service URL you will need to create your bucket in the Wasabi Console ahead of time.
After the authentication validation passes, click Save.

Make sure to click Save Changes to save your settings in the Upper Right Hand Corner.

Now you will be able to select your premade Storage Template in the Client when setting up your Backups.
Backup Process
With the Comet Backup Client open click Create New Protected Item.

Select the type of Item you want to backup. In our example we are protecting files and folders. Click Next.

For Files and Folders you can specify folders or create a custom path to a specific sub-folder or file. Select the files and folders you wish to protect and click Next.


Click Next on the Commands Page.

Now you will Add your Storage Vault and Create your Backup Time Schedule. Click on the + Symbol.

Here you will Name the Schedule and Select the Storage Vault you created. You can customize and select any of the below options depending your requirements. Click the plus sign next to Storage Vault and select your Wasabi vault.

Click on the + symbol next to Schedule.

Set the appropriate schedule and click OK.

Click Save.

Click Next.

Click Next on the Retention page.

Give the protected item a name and click Next.

Select the checkbox next to Run this backup now and click Finish.

Once the backup job is running you will see a progress bar initialize and then change to completed successfully.

Restore Process
Select the appropriate protected item and click Restore.

Select the Wasabi vault and click Next.

Select the Protected Item and Backup Date from when you want to restore and then Click Next.

Select whether to restore files and folders or a compressed file and click Next.

Choose which files and/or folders or file that you wish to restore and click Next.

Choose where you want the data to be restored to and whether or not you wish to overwrite the existing files in that current path and then click Restore.

The Restore process will begin and the progress bar will initialize and then complete upon successful restore.

Backup Retention
By default Comet is set to keep all backups forever. There are several ways to configure Comet to limit the number of backups it retains in your Wasabi storage. See How to set up retention for details.
Configure Immutability
You can use Wasabi's Object Lock with Comet Voyager 23.3.1 or higher software. This helps prevent against accidental or malicious deletion of your backups by not allowing them to be deleted for a configurable period of time.
Log into your Wasabi Cloud Console and create your Object Lock Enabled Bucket following the steps in Object Lock Enabled Bucket article.
Note: You will want to create your Object Lock Enabled bucket beforehand so that you can select the appropriate Wasabi Storage Region for you data as you cannot select this through the Comet Storage Vault Creation process.Create a Lifecycle Policy for your bucket. This is used to delete non-current objects and delete-markers in your bucket, not to delete backup data itself. Click on Buckets, then click on the name of your bucket.

Click on the Settings gearwheel button.

Go to the Lifecycle tab and click Create New Rule.

Give the rule a name and configure the policy as shown in the screenshot below. Set the Days after object becomes noncurrent to 1. Scroll down.

Click Create.

Type - Select Wasabi (Object Lock).
Bucket Name - Name of the Object Lock Bucket you previously created in the Wasabi Console/
Access Key - Wasabi Access Key.
Secret Key - Wasabi Secret Key.
Lock - Configure the number of days you wish the backups to be immutable for. After configuring the number of days, click Yes in the popup window.
Click Test Connection.

After the authentication validation passes, click Save.

Make sure to click Save Changes to save your settings in the Upper Right Hand Corner.

After you backup has run you can validate that the files are protected with Wasabi Object Lock by logging into your Wasabi Cloud Console. Click Buckets and click the name of your bucket.

Enable Show Versions. Go into the files and select one. This will bring up the right hand File Details pane of that file and show the Object Locking details that you specified when creating your Storage Template in Comet. The “retain until date” is the date that the Object Lock will expire. It does not mean the object will be deleted on that date.
