Can I move the Control Folder to a different location?
When a source is a network share versus a local share on the Windows Server, Wasabi Cloud NAS requires that a new folder is configured as a Control Folder. The Control Folder is used only for storing stub file copies of the actual files on the network share. The Control Folder facilitates data retrieval to the network share if you enable space reclaiming.
The Control Folder can be moved only within the same volume. To move the Control Folder:
- Pause Wasabi Cloud NAS service from the Configuration Interface.
- Delete the Source (this does not delete any data).
- Use the Move command (not Copy) on the new location (Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V).
- Add the Source again and point Wasabi Cloud NAS to the Control Folder in the new location.
- When prompted, select the Take no action option.
- Resume Wasabi Cloud NAS service.
These steps will work only if the Control Folder is moved within the same volume.
