Configuring File Delete Mode With Wasabi Cloud NAS

    • PDF

    Article summary

By default, when a file is deleted from the source, WCN automatically deletes its replica from the bucket as well. You can set WCN to delete just the instance of the file on the source, but keep the copy on the bucket. In this case, to retrieve a file deleted only from the source, you have to manually synchronize the contents of the source and the bucket (see Synchronizing Data on the Source and the Bucket).

When you set WCN to delete just the instance of the file on the source, to delete it from the bucket as well you should access the bucket and manually delete the file.
When using the default delete mode, keep in mind that the copy of the file on the bucket is deleted only after the specified time interval in the Data Replication policy elapses.

    Configure the Delete Mode Setting

    1. In the left pane, select Global Settings.
    2. Select the Delete replica when a source file is removed check box to let WCN remove the replica from the bucket upon deleting the file from the source volume. Or, clear/uncheck the Delete replica when a source file is removed check box to let the WCN keep the replica on the bucket upon deleting the file from the source volume.

    3. Click Apply.
If a file is deleted from the source folder, that file is moved to the recycle bin of the server. If this file is not deleted from the recycle bin of the server, the WCN client will not remove the file from the bucket in the Wasabi Cloud even if the "Delete replica when the source file is removed" option is enabled. Once the file is deleted permanently from the recycle bin too, the Wasabi NAS client removes that file from the bucket.
