Multiple Cloud NAS Users

Why do I see multiple Cloud NAS users with the prefix “Cloud-nas-user-” in the Wasabi object storage users list?

When WCN is installed on a local server, the software creates a unique programmatic sub-user in the WCN storage account (Wasabi object storage) to establish a storage bridge between the on-premise storage and the Wasabi cloud.

The programmatic user is automatically assigned:

  • Unique naming conventions—User names are randomized with the prefix “cloud-nas-user-“ to ensure that they do not conflict with other sub-users.

  • Permissions—Users are granted the S3FullAccess policy that enables WCN to oversee replication and offloading processes.

If the WCN client/service is still active, programmatic users should not be manually deleted or modified in the WCN storage account, as this will break the connection between the server and the cloud storage.

You may see multiple users in your WCN storage account if the WCN client has been installed on various servers or reinstalled several times on the same machine.
