Undeleting Data on the Source

Prev Next

When data is accidentally deleted from your source, Wasabi Cloud NAS (WCN) provides you with two methods of recovering that data. Even if File Delete mode is enabled to "keep the file replica on the bucket", you can recover a file deleted from the source by synchronizing the contents of the parent folder with the contents of the bucket. For more information, refer to Synchronizing Data on the Source and the Bucket.

To benefit from the undelete feature, versioning must be enabled.

When File Delete mode is enabled, it will delete the file replica from the bucket as soon as it is deleted from the source. To recover a deleted file when File Delete mode is enabled, you must undelete the file. When you undelete a file, it will appear on your source as a nearline file. You can manually retrieve the nearline file through WCN or on-demand by attempting to open it. To undelete a file that has been accidentally deleted on the source, follow the steps below.

To undelete a file from a NAS source, you must perform the operation in the shadow copy folder.
  1. In Windows Explorer, right-click the folder containing the file in which to undelete.
  2. In the context menu, select Wasabi Cloud NAS.
  3. Click Undelete.

WCN undeletes all deleted files in the selected folder, as long as they have a version of the file on the bucket. The undeleted file(s) will appear on your source as nearline file(s), that can be retrieved (on-demand or manually).
