Wasabi Cloud Sync Manager (WCSM) is a managed cloud migration service used to migrate (copy) data from hyperscalers (such as AWS, Azure, and GCP) or other S3-compliant cloud or on-premise object storage (such as Backblaze, RStor, and so on) to either Wasabi or Wasabi with Dell ObjectScale.
WCSM provides a simple and secure user interface to configure storage parameters with complete visibility into active or historical migrations.
Migration Types
WCSM supports the following migration types.
Copy—Copies (migrates) data from the source to the target (Wasabi bucket).
Sync—Copies data to the target. Any files that are not present on the source will be deleted from the target.
Move—Deletes files from the source once data has been copied to the target.
Migration Process
Depending on your use case, the data migration may either be performed once or incrementally. Typically, if the source data is static (does not change over time), the migration is run once. Under certain circumstances (such as with transient network errors or if the source data store is live), the migration may have to be repeated. When the source data store is live, a cutover schedule should be agreed upon with Wasabi. During the cutover, the source data store must be locked (also referred to as downtime) for Wasabi to run a final incremental migration.
Migrating Data From an Archival Storage Tier to Wasabi
WCSM can be used to migrate data from an archival storage tier (such as AWS Glacier, Azure Blob, or GCP) to Wasabi. The WCSM Portal automatically restores from the archival tier to a standard tier with no customer action required. Once the data is retrieved to the standard tier, WCSM initiates a copy to Wasabi.
You will be charged retrieval fees from the hyperscalers in these scenarios. Wasabi's migration fee neither covers nor includes these charges.
